This is Rain

This is prayer answered:

scent of rain drifting through windows

thunder echoing off mountains

rush of rain on the roof, the street

lightning dazzling as sunlight.

now, a comforting cloak

of darkness at day’s end.

Drought’s antidote,

this is rain.
