I was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, but moved to Montana at a young age. Save for a stint in Alabama, I spent so much time in Montana that I consider myself a Montanan from Texas.
Or, a Texan from Montana. Really, it depends on the day.
I graduated from the University of Montana where I should have minored in Creative Writing but instead attempted to minor in Spanish. “If you want to teach English in Texas, you need to know Spanish,” they told me.
